day care requirements
Behavior: All dogs must be social. Each dog must meet, and continue to meet, specific social, behavioral, and temperament evaluation criteria. This policy will be strictly adhered to for the fun and safety of all Zen Dogs participants.
Cancellation Policy/Charge: We require a 24-hour notice of cancellations. Please let us know if you’d like to cancel your dog’s daycare day by 9 a.m. the business day prior to the reservation. There is no charge for cancellations made by this time. Cancellation charges (equivalent to one day, or one punch from your package) will incur if daycare cancellations are made after 9 a.m. the day prior, or the day of the reservation.
Evaluation: All new dogs enrolled in our program will go through a specific social, behavioral, and temperament evaluation during their first 3 visits with us. Each of these visits will be charged the daily rate. Upon successful completion of these visits, owners are then offered the convenience of purchasing a day care package, if they wish to buy more days at once for a discount.
Flea/Tick Treatment Required. *Please remember that topical prevention treatments are poisonous to other dogs and humans, so we request that the treatments are done at least 48 hours prior to day care. (Flea collars are acceptable, however these are not allowed to be worn in play groups.)
Heartworm Preventative: All participants are strongly encouraged to have their dog on a monthly heartworm preventative. Most people are unaware that Interceptor/Simparica Trio/Heartgard/ect. all contain medications that provide once monthly purging of the most common parasites. These companies also back their products if purchased from the veterinarian. This means they have confidence they will help keep your dog parasite free and will help with treatment if they do not. Breakthroughs are always possible, but less common.
Late Pick-Up Fee: Late charges will apply for dogs picked up after closing time. Charges will incur at $1/minute until the time of pick up.
Leash Rules: All dogs & puppies entering Zen Dogs Center MUST be on a 4'-6' leash. No retractable leashes, please!
Reservations Required: All dogs & puppies must have a scheduled reservation for the day they are attending day care. We cannot accept "walk-ins".
Spay/Neuter Rules: This rule will vary based on each individual dog and his/her continuous temperament evaluation, but generally we will require males* to be neutered by ten months old, and females spayed by one year old. *Un-altered dogs older than 7 months old need to have been regularly attending Zen Dogs.
Vaccination/Clear Fecal Requirements: All dogs must be current on the following vaccinations: Rabies, Distemper (DHPP, DA2PP, DHPPV or DA2PPv), Bordetella. Fecal Test (with clear results) required annually.
. **Leptospirosis and Canine Flu (H3N2 & H3N8) are not required, but recommended if your dog is at risk (ask your veterinarian).
Vaccination Requirements for Puppies (who start at 15-16 weeks): Two series of Distemper, Bordetella, Clear Fecal, and all other age-appropriate boosters. Rabies required by 5 months old (WI State Law).
